To celebrate the release of Tyler Perry’s ‘For Colored Girls’, the ensemble cast grace not one, but two special edition covers of Essence magazine.

The ladies, led by the likes of Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, and Kerry Washington, feature on one cover; while Perry, Michael Ealy, among others, pose it up with the male members of the cast on another.

‘For Colored Girls’ hits theatres in the US on November 5th and in the UK on December 10th.

Essence mentions “the goal of this month’s issue is to create a national dialogue on race that will inform, inspire and empower African-American women.”

“Drumline” scribe Tina Gordon Chism wrote the script and will make her directing debut on the project, which starts shooting in Connecticut in November. Lionsgate will release the film.

Robinson (“The Office”) plays a child psychologist who surprises his girlfriend (Washington) by showing up at her political family’s annual get-together at their Sag Harbor vacation home only to find them desperately in need of therapy.

Washington stars in Tyler Perry’s adaptation of “For Colored Girls,” which Lionsgate releases in November. Grier’s recent credits include “Astro Boy” and “Dance Flick.”

Mother And Child looks at how adoption affects the lives of three women.

Annette Bening plays Karen, who at 14 became pregnant and was forced to give the baby up for adoption.

Thirty-five years later her daughter Elizabeth, played by Australian actress Naomi Watts, is a successful lawyer who tries to trace her biological mother when she falls pregnant.

And Kerry Washington plays Lucy, who sees her dream of adopting a child finally come true.

The play incuded a collection of poems performed by women of color-each identified by the hue of her clothes-creates a unified statement about being a woman of color, being alive, and being an American. The work’s tales of love, violence, abortion, rape, and healing are as searing and relevant today as they were thirty years ago.

Also appearing in the film is: Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington, Macy Gray, Loretta Devine, Thandie Newton, and Kimberly Elise.

Anika Noni Rose is best known for her Tony Award winning performance in the Broadway production of Caroline, or Change and her starring roles in the films Dreamgirls and The Princess and the Frog.
